Free Excel Formula Generator
Pick a formula type, fill in the cells and ranges, and get a ready-to-paste Excel formula - built entirely in your browser.
How to build an Excel formula
-
1
Choose a formula type
Select VLOOKUP, IF, SUMIF, or any of the other supported formulas.
-
2
Fill in the fields
Enter the cell references, ranges, and criteria the formula needs - the fields update to match the formula you picked.
-
3
Copy the formula
The formula builds live as you type. Copy it and paste it straight into a cell in Excel or Google Sheets.
Example use cases
Looking up a value from another table
Build a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH formula to pull a value across from a reference table.
Summing or counting rows that match a condition
Generate a SUMIF, COUNTIF, or AVERAGEIF formula without hunting down the exact argument order.
Combining text from several cells
Build a CONCATENATE or TEXTJOIN formula to merge names, addresses, or codes into one cell.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to type real cell references?
Yes - fill in the fields with actual cells or ranges from your sheet, like A2 or B2:B100. The generator only assembles the formula text; it doesn't know your data.
Why does the generator use commas between arguments?
Commas are the argument separator in the English (US) version of Excel and in Google Sheets. If your Excel is set to a locale that uses commas as decimal separators, replace the commas with semicolons after pasting.
What's the difference between CONCATENATE and TEXTJOIN?
CONCATENATE joins values with no separator control per range, while TEXTJOIN lets you set a delimiter once and optionally skip empty cells - pick TEXTJOIN if you want a delimiter between every value.
Why choose INDEX/MATCH over VLOOKUP?
INDEX/MATCH can look to the left of the lookup column and doesn't break if columns are inserted, which is why many people prefer it over VLOOKUP for larger sheets.
