Frequently asked questions

How is RD maturity value calculated?

This calculator uses the standard bank formula with quarterly compounding: M = R × [(1+i)ⁿ − 1] ÷ (1 − (1+i)^(−1/3)), where R is the monthly deposit, i is the quarterly interest rate, and n is the number of quarters in the tenure.

Why quarterly compounding for a monthly deposit?

Most Indian banks compound RD interest quarterly even though deposits are made monthly, which is why the formula looks more involved than a simple SIP calculation.

Does this account for TDS on RD interest?

No, this shows the gross interest before tax. Banks deduct TDS on RD interest above a threshold each financial year, which would reduce the amount you actually receive.

Is my deposit data sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted or logged.
