Frequently asked questions
How does this remove the data?
The photo is redrawn onto a blank canvas and re-exported - the re-export only contains pixel data, so EXIF, GPS, and other metadata from the original file aren't carried over.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The photo is re-encoded entirely in your browser using JavaScript - it never leaves your device.
Does this reduce image quality?
JPEGs are re-encoded at high quality (92%), which is visually close to lossless for most photos. PNG output is fully lossless.
Will this remove GPS location data?
Yes - GPS coordinates are stored in EXIF, so they're removed along with everything else.
