Frequently asked questions

What does "Whole word only" do?

It only replaces matches that aren't part of a larger word, so finding "cat" won't match inside "category". It has no effect when "Treat as regular expression" is on.

Can I use a regular expression?

Yes — turn on "Treat 'Find' as a regular expression" to use patterns like \d+ or [A-Z]{2,}. If the pattern is invalid, an error is shown instead of a result.

Can I use capture groups in the replacement?

Yes, when regular expression mode is on — use $1, $2, and so on in "Replace with" to reference captured groups from your pattern.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. Every replacement runs entirely in your browser — nothing is transmitted or logged.
