Frequently asked questions
How is a percentage discount calculated?
Amount saved = original price × (discount % ÷ 100). Final price = original price − amount saved. For example, 20% off ₹1,500 saves ₹300, for a final price of ₹1,200.
How is a flat discount different?
A flat discount subtracts a fixed rupee amount from the price instead of a percentage, so the amount saved stays the same regardless of the original price.
Can I work out the discount percentage from a sale price?
This calculator goes from price and discount to the final total. If you instead know the original and sale price and want the percentage, the Percentage Calculator's "% increase/decrease" tab covers that.
